The Film Room is the desk's standing analyst-notes column. Each week the desk publishes a post-match review against the latest broadcast replay. Below is the desk's working method for film-room notes.

FILM ROOM · METHOD

How the desk reads a post-match replay

A post-match replay is anchor, read, schema. The desk reads three artefacts per replay: the anchor (broadcaster overlay), the read (editor's interpretation), the schema (the desk's editorial composite).

01

Anchor

Reproduce the broadcaster overlay's per-round positioning. Tier-A on the publisher feed.

02

Read

The desk's interpretation of the anchor. Tier-C editorial with a corrections log.

03

Schema

The desk's editorial composite across the replay. Tier-C composite.

04

Cross-stamp

Anchor and read are cross-stamped against the publisher's own positioning feed.

05

Editor's stamp

Tier-A lock where the publisher feed and the broadcaster overlay agree.

06

Archive

Filed under the film-room archive with the broadcaster overlay URL and the editorial stamp.

How a film-room column reads across a season

A film-room season is built from three composite reads: the regional composite, the bracket composite, and the season composite. Below is the desk's working method.

Regional composite

The regional composite is built from the broadcaster's post-match replay across the regional cycle. The composite captures the per-round positioning for every team.

Bracket composite

The bracket composite is built from the broadcaster's post-match replay across the bracket cycle. The composite captures the per-round positioning across the full bracket.

Season composite

The season composite is built from the broadcaster's post-match replay across the season. The composite captures the per-round positioning across the full season.

What the desk does not publish for a film-room column

The desk does not publish private coach notes on positioning. The publisher's published commentary is re-printed.

The desk does not publish leaked overlay positions. The broadcaster's published overlay is the only source.
